Dear friends -
As you know, our beloved friend Q, aka Qathi Gallaher Hart, moved to Oakland over a year ago, to follow a dream. Yes, it’s only been a little longer than a year since she left us - we know it feels way longer than that.
Lucky for us, the Oakland part of that dream was short-lived, and now it’s time for her to come home.
Not only is that chapter of her life finished, but the heavens decided to bestow a pile of tests on to Ms. Q, just when her faith needed shored up, it was tested and stretched to the breaking point- quite literally. In the fall of 2006, she fell from the loft in the fabulous Secret Spygirl Hideaway pad she lived in, breaking her leg in enough places to require surgery, pins and screws. Our heroine is no longer biodegradable! Months of recuperation follow, she’s still not quite over it, but of course a limp just adds a certain mystery to an already seductive strut. On new year’s morning, while the rest of the state was sleeping off a celebratory hangover, some thugs stole the Squishymobile! The Suburban was stolen right from its resting place, and the thieves lacked the class to avoid running over her motorcycle on the way out of the driveway. Such an insult! Two days later, they returned to finish the job, and pick up the bike (probably with her stolen truck)! Luckily (?) the Suburban was returned a few weeks later, stripped of its interesting bits, but still running like a champ. Not the same. A broken toe seems to have pushed our fair maiden’s sanity over the edge, and she’s finally sent the white flag up the pole- surrender! Q and Oakland are breaking up. It’s a fairly amicable split, but as you know, when it’s time to break up, each subsequent moment lasts an eternity.
This is where you come in- Following this series of (really) unfortunate events, Ms. Q is finding herself a little short on liquid assets. No, we’re not asking you for a bottle of whiskey, though that might be good for you to bring to the welcome home party once she gets here. No, dear friends, we are asking you for a little money. We have estimated that it will take about $3000 to settle up some personal debts to the Oakland angels who tended to our mistress while she was infirm- mostly paying back Ben and Jerry for their kindness, and some hospital bills. If everyone who receives this email donates $10-$50, we’ll get our friend home safe and sound, with a clean slate, back into the folds of the loving warm bosom of Seattle. Soon, we’ll all be hula-hooping in the park, sewing the next fabulous thing and playing hard, side by side with our beloved Qathi.
We have set up a paypal account for this purpose, the address to send to is res.Q.mission@gmail.com
Thank you so very much for helping us help Q come home. As a special added bonus, the first 100 people to help the Res-Q-Mission will get a limited edition fancy button! These will later identify members of the Mission out in the world and we'll be able to recognize one another as friends of Qathi.
